Key terms

ERP

Software that unifies finance, purchasing, sales, inventory and production in a single system. Ecofin Cloud's ERP is modular and natively supports IBM iSeries/AS400 environments.

Modular ERP

An ERP model where each area is a module you switch on as needed, so you don't pay for what you don't use.

IBM iSeries (AS/400)

IBM's highly reliable server platform (now IBM i), still running in thousands of industrial companies. Ecofin Cloud maintains, modernises and integrates it without losing existing investment.

RPG

A programming language native to the IBM i/AS400 environment, common in legacy business applications.

OCR

Optical character recognition: turns scanned images or documents into editable text. It is the basis of Captodocs for automating data entry.

IDP (intelligent document processing)

An evolution of OCR that adds AI to understand, classify and extract data from unstructured documents such as invoices, delivery notes or contracts.

Document management

Processes and software to capture, classify, store and find documents securely and with full traceability. At Ecofin, the Vault product.

Electronic invoicing

Invoices issued and received in a structured electronic format, with the same legal validity as paper and processable automatically.

VeriFactu

A Spanish Tax Agency scheme requiring invoicing software to keep or submit tamper-proof records, under the anti-fraud regulation.

Ley Crea y Crece

A Spanish law that, among other measures, extends mandatory electronic invoicing between companies and freelancers to reduce late payment.

Digital transformation

Redesigning processes, data and business models with technology to gain efficiency and faster decision-making.

Cybersecurity

The set of practices and technologies that protect systems, networks and data from unauthorised access, attacks and loss.

Systems integration

Connecting different applications (ERP, CRM, web, iSeries…) so information flows end to end without duplicated work, usually via APIs.

API

An interface that lets two applications communicate and exchange data in a standardised way.

IoT

The Internet of Things: physical devices with sensors and connectivity that capture and send real-world data. Neurafy's domain.

Intermodal terminal

A facility where cargo switches between transport modes (ship, rail, truck). Essentos brings operational intelligence to these terminals.

TOS (Terminal Operating System)

A system that manages and optimises a terminal's operations: yard, equipment, cargo flows and billing.

Operational intelligence

Using real-time data to understand and optimise day-to-day operations, not just to report the past.

B2B visitor identification

Technology that identifies which companies visit your website, without personal cookies, to prioritise sales opportunities. This is what Nalloo does.

GEO (Generative Engine Optimization)

Optimising content so AI engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini) understand and cite your information accurately.

Low-code

A development approach that reduces manual coding with visual tools to build applications faster. Ecofin works with Scriptcase.
